Bridge abutments

Walt inspecting steel wire

Success!   When the form work was removed, the footings and abutments passed inspection.   They were left to cure for several several days before any further work was performed.

The bridge beams were cast in Oregon at the R.B. Johnson Co.  Project engineer Walt Weaver inspected the reinforcing steel and pre-tensioned wire prior to the concrete pour.

Each bridge section is 32 feet long and contains 38 steel wires pre-stressed to  65,000 pounds per square inch.
