Coach #276 was repaired and maintained as required throughout its life on the Spokane, Portland and Seattle Railway. Such work included replacement of floor tiling, something that is heavily impacted by the many passengers who rode the car. This pattern was probably applied in the late 1950's and consisted of 8 inch square tiles. The floor was black with an overlapping 3 x 3 pattern up the center isle accented with a light blue center square.

Commercial flooring is no longer available in 8 inch squares. Now tiles are 12 inches square and linoleum formulations are harder but more brittle. Because a railway car body flexes so much when moving in a train, the Museum decided to use rubber tiles and, to avoid cutting, set a center aisle pattern in white tiles only. However, the individual tile colors and patterns are nearly identical to the original floor.
