Volunteers

Volunteers perform nearly every task at the Northwest Railway Museum and the Museum provides all the necessary "training". Potential volunteers need only enthusiasm and some time!

Popular volunteer activities include becoming a brakeman, conductor or engineer and   operating trains and engines in the Running Trades Program; working on track repair and construction in the Maintenance of Way Program, and supporting a variety of other Museum Programs including School Train and Santa Train. Volunteers also serve as docents at the Snoqualmie Depot, on board the Snoqualmie Valley Railroad, and (while suitably attired) as kitchen staff in the Army Ambulance Kitchen Car.  And Volunteers performed most of the restoration of the Collection including Locomotive #1 and the Kitchen Car.

Volunteers also have the opportunity to participate in social events including summer picnics and an annual banquet.  Join in the fun: people of all ages and skill levels are welcome.

To begin your "training", respond by email to or call the Volunteer Coordinator in the Museum office at (425) 888-3030 x204.
